Epic Adventure!

We just returned from our epic backcountry ski adventure in the Selkirk Mountains. Words can’t describe the magnificent alpine scenery we got to enjoy every day … and in glorious sunshine except from maybe one morning of overcast skies. The skiing was fantastic, and after a bit of time to get my “ski legs” back (I have been boarding for the last 15 years!), the fear was gone and the turns in powder on the Durrand Glacier were pure bliss!

In this type of environment, with the sunshine we got to enjoy, there really aren’t any bad pictures so it was hard to select the best. Here is our collection – please enjoy the photos!

For moving pictures, please check out this video of the descent from Symphony Peak and this one from the top of Symphony Peak.

Now I am hooked on backcountry skiing! Who needs crowded resorts and cold lifts when you can find your own rhythm, skin up a peak and really “earn” the descent. So I have to admit that I have been searching the Web for great deals on backcountry ski gear to get my own equipment going and do more of this! I found a great website (check out Level Nine Sports!) that also ships to Canada for a very reasonable price!!!
