Books I enjoyed …

Because I just put this list together for a friend, I thought I post it here. Below are a few books I have enjoyed reading in the last few years, with 4 of my all-time favorites on top! I tend to focus more on non-fiction but understand that my topics might not be other people’s…

And … it’s gone …

The snow is gone and has made room for dry roads, sunny afternoons and road cycling weather! I feel like I maximized the time in the white fluff, with lots of skate ski outings, backcountry ski training mornings (Big White) and the big trips to Sol Mountain in December and on the Wapta Icefield in…

White World

Wow, it has been a very white and cold winter so far! I’m not complaining … I know I’m in the minority here in Kelowna where most people complain about snow, go south for the winter or otherwise “hang on” until the spring comes. I, on the other hand, love snow. I get excited about…

Finally the snow is back …

It just doesn’t get much better than being at 2000m, in the sunshine, with lots of powder in all directions. As much as I love skate skiing for the workout and the social aspect, backcountry skiing is pretty special and always puts a smile on my face. No crowds, no noise, just peaceful white. On…

A fleeting visit …

A month of hiking …

As most of you know, I spent June 2016 hiking in the woods of Washington. Keyla and I started on the Pacific Crest Trail and also spent a lot of time in North Cascades National Park. Plans were made, plans were changed, and in the end, Keyla and I had the most amazing time hiking trails…

More snow!

Very few things feel more rewarding than this hot cup of coffee after a climb to the top of Big White early in the morning.  Always before sunrise, always with the dog jumping around like crazy the whole time. Yes that makes it a bit tricky to ski down until I get enough speed going…

Winthrop

Every visit to my favourite place, Winthrop, is a treat. But to spend a week in the Methow Valley means time to ski, fully recharge the system and clarity to focus on the important stuff. Yes it really does all that to me 🙂

Christmas in Germany

As always it has taken a little while to put the photos from our trip to Germany and Switzerland online. Not too long though, I know some are waiting for them 🙂 Here you can find all the pictures … It was great to visit with family, enjoy the German food and escape to Switzerland…
